Championing local, seasonal food & drinks
At The Taybank, our menu is a celebration of the Scottish seasons—ever-changing, inventive, and rooted in the land around us. Head Chef Nicolas Fischer and his talented team craft dishes using exceptional ingredients grown just along the road by our Head Grower, Don McRae, and his dedicated crew. We also work closely with a handpicked network of Scottish producers to source local meat and responsibly raised produce. Upstairs in our restaurant, you'll find a welcoming space offering everything from starters and small plates to hearty mains, indulgent desserts, and a thoughtfully curated drinks list.
“the restaurant has a modern art deco bar, bold art and a quietly sophisticated seasonal menu featuring local venison and beef from Potter’s uncle’s farm”
The Times
Outside in our garden things are more casual, but with no compromise on quality or taste. Our Garden Kitchen makes hand-stretched pizzas, sharing platters, fresh garden salads, and much more. This is food to be enjoyed with a pint in the sun or by the fire pit. We also have our own horsebox coffee & ice cream bar which serves our very own roast coffee from the Bean Shop, a selection of loose-leaf teas and Luvian’s ice cream.
In 2022 we took on the walled garden within the grounds of Murthly Estate which once fed the Lords and Ladies who frequented the castle. Head Grower Donald Mcrae and team are committed to raising chemical-free crops in an environmentally sensitive way, boosting the soil with ecologically responsible techniques and supporting biodiversity. Our produce list runs to over 60 varieties of vegetable, fruit, flowers and salad. We also keep hens and bees. We’re now in our fourth year of growing and both our kitchens receive a steady supply of fresh chemical-free produce.
