Overview of the Role
The Bar Manager leads all bar operations at The Taybank, overseeing both our much-loved indoor music bar and our riverside Garden Bar. This is a hands-on role, responsible for creating a warm, lively atmosphere while ensuring exceptional drinks, efficient service and a great guest experience. From busy summer afternoons in the gardens to intimate gigs and late nights inside, you'll lead the team with confidence, balancing creativity, commercial performance and genuine hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the day-to-day operation of both the indoor bar and riverside Garden Bar, ensuring consistently excellent service.
Be a visible, hands-on presence during service, setting the tone for relaxed, welcoming hospitality.
Oversee bar operations during live music, seasonal events, private dinners and outdoor screenings.
Recruit, train and support the bar team, creating a positive culture where people enjoy coming to work.
Prepare rotas and staffing levels to meet demand while managing labour costs effectively.
Develop the team's drinks knowledge, service skills and understanding of responsible alcohol service.
Manage stock ordering, storage and rotation, maintaining excellent organisation and minimising waste.
Monitor margins, stock levels and sales performance, taking a practical approach to profitability.
Curate and develop our drinks offering, championing Scottish spirits, local beers, seasonal cocktails using produce from our Walled Garden and an approachable wine list.
Work closely with the kitchen team to create drinks that complement our seasonal menus and events.
Ensure full compliance with Scottish licensing legislation, health and safety requirements, and food hygiene standards.

Qualifications & Experience
Experience managing a busy bar within a quality hospitality venue.
Strong understanding of Scottish licensing legislation and responsible alcohol service.
Experience with stock control, ordering and GP management.
Personal Licence Holder (Scotland), or willingness to obtain one.
