Join our head grower Donald in an immersive one day workshop on how to work with nature to grow abundant harvests of nutrient dense food from a small area. Whether you are totally new to growing food or have some seasons of experience, there will be lots to learn and bespoke advice will be given according to your circumstances and growing needs.

We will cover everything you need to know to get growing, covering some advanced techniques but simplified into an approach that guarantees success wherever you are. A large focus is on nurturing healthy soil, but we will cover everything from seed sourcing and basic seed saving, varieties, timings, spacings, crop protection, irrigation, tools and sourcing of materials.

There is a lot of information to take in so to help you on your path we have created a comprehensive growing handbook taking you through the steps of setting up a no-dig garden, from ground preparation right through to harvesting, preserving and compost making. An additional PDF is provided with links to all resources to save time searching for the best tools.

A delicious lunch of both fresh and preserved ingredients from the garden is included, as are refreshments throughout the day. For your soil we will send you away with a jar of the highest quality compost we have made so you can bring the best microbial community into your garden.

Gift vouchers are available for our Walled Garden Workshops, please email info@thetaybank.co.uk to arrange one with our team.

In 2022 The Taybank took over the abandoned 4-acre walled garden at the nearby Murthly Castle Estate. The garden once served the residents and guests of the castle but hadn’t been in use for a century. Our goal was to use the site to grow as much of the produce served from our own restaurant and garden kitchen ourselves. A couple of years later and after a some tough graft by our growing team, over half of our garden is producing delicious chemical-free vegetables, fruit and soon plants and cut flowers for our building.
